  1. Announcements to students

Our school is about to go 1 to 1 with chromebooks at our school. We are in the Grossmont Union High School District. My question is, is there a way to push out announcements to the chromebooks from admin? With every kid having a computer we would like the ability to put out special info to students this way. It could be on the start up screen, screen saver, or as a pop up. Is this something we could do?

  2. Enable filtering of devices in theft recovery

Theft recovery does not provide or allow filtering of lost/stolen devices. As a school district, we require filtering on all of our devices. When a device is reported as lost/stolen, if a student recovers the device, they will have access to filtered content. Filtering needs to be an option in theft recovery, especially since user based filtering is no longer an option on these devices.

  3. "Add to Filter" Option in Smart Alert Behavior Details Screen

Currently, to block a site that has triggered a Smart Alert, you have to exit the behavior screen, go to the filter and manually add the site to the blacklist. I am requesting that an option to add the site to a filter list directly from the Smart Alert Behavior Details page. Perhaps right below the "CATEGORY" Is this Explicit or Self-Harm field.

  4. allow for filtering on devices in kiosk mode.

I'd like to maintain GoGuardian filtering on devices while they are in kiosk mode. For example, if we have a cart of Chromebooks for lower grade students (who aren't 1-to-1), I'd like for them to open up to a web browser with filtering. I know I could create a generic account and publicly post the password, but it would be best to simply have the Chromebooks just work.

  5. Build a filter for PC and Mac's

We love GoGuardian for our Chromebooks. We would love a client that we can install or add to our Windows and Mac devices. Another idea would be for iPads and Androids.

  6. Allow admins to send an announcement to ALL accounts regardless of online status.

Given the current issue of online/remote instruction. It would be very beneficial to be able to send a generic announcement to all accounts once log in occurs, such as "Check your email for an important announcement" or whatever an admin would need to send. So, regardless of online status we should be able to have a pinned announcement that appears once logged in, or pops up if someone is already logged in.

  7. GoGuardian blocks extensions for Penalty Box students.

I recently discovered that GoGuardian blocks extensions for Penalty Box students. Add an option to allow extensions for Penalty Box

  8. Penalty Box Beginning and end scheduling

I would love to see the ability to put a student in the penalty box with a scheduled end time set for the end of the consequence

  9. Theft Recovery

Hello, I know we have asked about this in the past - but now it is more of a feature request. When we first signed up for GoGuardian, it had the ability to take facial screenshots when a device was marked as Stolen. I know that GoGuardian told me that this turned into a privacy issue because of students. However, the device is considered stolen, so if it's a young person or older person, its stolen, when it comes time to prosecute a person for stealing a Chromebook (Thanks to GoGuardian's location tracking helping us find the stolen Chromebook) we…

  10. Report on Individual Online Activity

I would love to be able to download reports that would show each students breakdown of online activity over an interval of time. For example, how much time did student x spend on google.docs, Khanacademy, and Youtube over the last week, month, year etc.

As the data scientist at my district I am looking to find relationships between this data and individual achievement

  11. Block Youtube searches with keywords

Allow the Youtube Blacklist keywords to block searches with the keywords. That way I don't have students searching for inappropriate material and seeing 100's of thumbnails of inappropriate material.

  12. Create Blacklist cleanup

When the backlist gets overloaded with sites, it gets kinda overwhelming. If there could be a way to organize the list (either by category, alphabetically, or by date added) that would be great.

  13. Time Frame for Penalty Box

Be able to set a time frame a student would be put in and out of the penalty box. During class time their out of the penalty box when their out like for lunch or at home they are put back in.

  14. Block chrome://inspect

I recently caught a student using a fairly clever exploit that allows a user to open a window in incognito mode, thus bypassing the GoGuardian extensions and filtering.

Reproduction steps are as follows (screenshots attached):
    1. Power on Chromebook. This exploit is most reproduceable when the Chromebook is has been recently powered on.
    2. Log in with an account that is subject to the GoGuardian extensions
    3. Navigate to chrome://inspect in the browser
    4. Click "Other" menu button on the left-hand side of the screen
    5. You will see chrome://app-list and chrome://oobe/lock in this menu. If chrome://oobe/lock does not appear,…

  15. Instead of days of the week use a calendar.

Would like to suggest that adding a calendar instead of picking just days for the Scenes will help more teachers to use GoGuardian. We have day schedules in the High School covering 6 days, day 1 , 2, 3, .. so using a calendar will allow the teacher to schedule their whole class. This will also help with holidays, pull outs, specials.....

  17. Full RegEx in blacklist/whitelist

Using the wildcard is a boon to the blacklist and whitelist URL strings, but it would be awesome to use full blown RegEx there. RegEx would allow very granular control over specific use cases.

For example, Netflix uses the following IP range for content:
    198.38.96.0 - 198.38.127.255

I can use the following regex to exclude all of those IP addresses:
    .198.38.(9[6-9]|1[0-1][0-9]|12[0-7]).(1?[0-9]{1,2}|2[0-4][0-9]|25[0-5]).

Or, for all those games hosted on Google Sites:
    sites.google.com.(unblock(ed)?)+|(game(s)?)+.

will block any URL with sites.google.com and contains unblock OR unblocked OR game OR games

Using this with the whitelist could mean that:
    (..?craigslist.org\/?)($|(\?areaID=346($|(&forumID=(501|64|2007|90|49))))|((search/((rid)|(cls)|(vol)))(\?query=.)?(\/\d*.html)?)$)

    Allows…

  18. Allow users to see why a site is blocked.

When dealing with our students, often it can help future decision making to know why a particular site may be blocked. If a user knows that Twitter was blocked because it's social media, then they're less likely to simply give up because "everything's blocked anyway"

Simply knowing the category or string that's blocked them increases visibility and puts some of the power back in their hands.

  20. Block Uncategorized Domains

Our filter is easily circumvented by students who find sites that do not yet have a category. I can always blacklist after the fact, but it would be much easier if uncategorized sites automatically were blocked.
