Allow teachers to mute Chromebooks
If students are using an app that makes sound, it would be helpful to have an option to mute their Chromebooks so that the rest of the class isn't disrupted.

Students will on occasion play sounds out loud during class to distract or disrupt their peers to get attention from their teacher. It would be beneficial to have the ability to terminate the music remotely as opposed to having to close a tab or tell the student(s) to turn their devices off.
Students learn quickly that if they are doing inappropriate things with the audio of their device that it can be muted or that they would lose the privilege of listening to their music they tend to stop that behavior.

Some students tend to disregard the idea that their sound level is distracting to others. I think it would be an excellent idea.

This would be so helpful!

I absolutely need this feature. I have 7th graders, and they sometimes use the text-to-speech to say inappropriate things, or refuse to mute their computers.

It would be extremely helpful to be able to mute a student's Chromebook. In my school district students are downloading music and full movies to their Chromebook at home and listening/watching them during school hours. Without headphones (or even with) this is a major distraction to not only the student who is listening/watching, but to others in the class. Being able to mute a Chromebook would discourage students from this type of distracting behavior.

Maybe mute if headphones are not plugged in? Is that too much?

When I used netsupport I could do this. We need control over the student's screen or else this spyware is no good.
