GoGuardian Teacher

  1. Individual Student Browsing Report - total and average time spent on visited sites

Student reports would provide our teachers with valuable information to better equip them with data about how their students use their class time while working on their devices. Teachers would use these reports as evidence to their arguments about their students' performance in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and while sharing concerns with the administration. Moreover, such statements would enable teachers to spot trends and create better intervention plans.

  3. Drag and and Drop Student Thumbnail Tiles in Live Session View

By allowing teachers to rearrange the listed order of students in sessions, teachers can better monitor the students who are more likely to be on the wrong site.

  4. Audible & visual alerts when students open non-approved websites.

Create an alert (audible & visual) when a student goes to a non-approved website. Just like my email makes a chiming noise when I get an email. It would be great if my computer would make a noise to let me know someone is on a website that isn't approved (the feature of creating "approved" websites would be a part of this). Then, if I'm walking around my room I can go to my desk and see who is doing what (the students profile flashing would be an easy way to indicate who the "offender" was) and redirect as necessary.

Awesome idea! We love the idea of increasing visibility of off-task behaviour!

  5. Teacher Control of Screen

    Teacher Control of Screen

Need to create a feature that allows teachers to control students screens other than just closing tabs. Similar to the feature in the program iTalc.

We’re constantly looking for ways to improve the connection between teachers and their students, and this idea seems like a great way to do that!

We will look into the feasibility of this idea (technically) and get back to you.

  6. Allow teachers to mute Chromebooks

If students are using an app that makes sound, it would be helpful to have an option to mute their Chromebooks so that the rest of the class isn't disrupted.

  7. Create different groups to apply a different scene to each group.

I love the "scene setting" feature. But I would love it even more if I could set different scenes for different groups of students in the same class. This would be great for blended/differentiated learning when I have different groups of students working on differentiated activities on the computer.

  8. Parent portal: For parents to see what their child is doing on their Chromebook

Very similar to how a teacher sees the student activity, it would be nice if parents had this option to see what their child is doing on the Chromebooks.

  9. Set a timer to automatically lock student screens after a certain time.

I often set a timer for my students in class then manually lock their screens to bring back their attention.

I would LOVE if I could set a timer on their screen that would countdown for them and then automatically lock when time is up. This feature is available on tools like Pear Deck and has been very helpful.

  10. Add a sort feature based on "level of concern" so the few students who require more frequent monitoring are at the top and easily visible.

Every class has one or two (or a few) students who tend to need more close monitoring than their peers. However, it's difficult to pick them out of the tile or list views. Allowing us to give a quick rating of students (red, yellow, green?) and then sort by "level of concern" would make it far easier to keep an eye on students who need it the most. Thanks!

  12. Allow teachers to send custom commmands

I would like to be able to send customized commands to my students. It would help to not only send the command to close tab but also redirect them to what they should be doing.

  13. Calendar Schedule

My school has a rolling block schedule. I would like to be able to choose what day on the calendar would be each class. If I were to do M/W/F one week, I need it to be T/Th the next week.

  14. Share and search scenes

Allow scenes to be classified as either public or private. Public scenes would be available other teachers to use, like the suggested scenes complied by GoGuardian. That way scenes could be shared between teachers in different schools and you could search for scenes for a particular topic (such as educational games). Private scenes would not be searchable or be shared with other users.

  15. allow teachers to open a chat dialogue directly with a student by clicking on the screen in screen view mode.

Currently the only way to open a chat is by clicking on the chat and then clicking on the students name. It would be so much easier to have a way to click on the students screen and chat with them. Maybe make a small chat bubble icon on each of the screens in screens mode, or have a small chat icon on the active tab when in timeline mode.

  16. Update Scenes to include the ability to block Chrome apps and extensions.

With the ability to set a scene for teachers, it would greatly improve assessment data if Scenes would also block Google apps and extensions.

  17. Block students from the chat feature.

The chat feature is nice, but occasionally it is getting misused. I would like to see the teacher be able to disable chat and also be able to "mute" students who misuse chat.

  18. Add the ability to change Scenes on a individual student basis

I do love using Scenes. When giving an online test (we use EADMS), I set up scenes to open the tab to the EADMS student login page. I don't allow any other pages. It is a great feature.

My only wish is that I could selectively remove the restrictive scene from individual students once they finish the test. A lot of my students finish early and want to utilize the remaining class time to work on other homework. I end up removing the screen once a handful of students have finished the test and monitoring the students who are still…

  19. Get rid of student screens that aren't active

When a student closes their screen and you get the orange computer with the number 1 and they have started a new screen and you have the green computer with the number 2. Allow us to be able to get rid of the orange computer with the number 1 so it isn't taking up room on the screen.

  20. I suggest you allow teachers to move the classroom blocks on the homescreen to organize by period.

I wish we could drop and drag the classrooms to be able to put them in order by class hour on the home screen.
